Sally, What a surprise to get a birthday card from you on my birthday. I couldn't believe it!! Absolutely astonished that you remembered amidst all that is going on in your life right now. Have at last managed to get logged in again and catch up with your travels. It makes fascinating reading. Will make a good book when you get back! Have fun. Alyson

Just caught up with all your travels today. Glad you enjoyed the Guggenheim. It is a fabulous building but the content (art) isn't always very exciting especially for kids. Reading you blog brings back very happy memories. Am following your treck across Spain with interest. Alyson

Sal/Mark
Am really sorry that we can't catch up with you in Bilbao but here are a few suggestions as to what you all might like to do and see whilst you are there:-

1) there is a restaurant near the Guggenheim that we used to love to have lunch at every Saturday. It is on the Calle Iparraguirre which is the street immediately opposite the Guggenheim museum. Unfortunately we can't remember the name of the restaurant but it is, I think, the only restaurant on this street. It has a small frontage and is very modern with a small bar at the front and then the restaurant at the back. It has a set menu which is all in Spanish but if you are lucky you may get some of the waiters who speak English
2) Next to the Guggenheim there is a park area which I am sure Jonathan and Aliesha will enjoy with a water feature!
3) There is also another park at the back of the Gran Via Don Jiego Lopez de Haro which again I'm sure Jonathan and Aliesha would enjoy
4) There is another excellent bar for tapas on the Diputacion off the Gran Via Don Jiego Lopez de Haro. Again I can't remember the name of the bar but the street is very short - this bar has a wooden frontage, and has a marine style decor inside - there are floats and nets etc on the wall. Don't be put off - the tapas is fabulous.
5) Take the metro to Bidezabal, turn left when you get outside the station and continue straight on until you hit the ocean (it is only a 10 min walk). There is a lovely sandy beach and a beach bar where you can get drinks and snacks. We spent many a happy evening sitting here watching the sun go down.

Am really jealous. Wish I was there. Hope you enjoy

Sounds like you didn't dig the Disney "magic" Sal !! We've just got back from Florida today - after 10 days you really do get into it. I am missing all my Disney friends right now :(
